Epson and the Environment

Epson’s Co-Existence Environmental Philosophy

Creating products that maintain a balance with nature

It is Epson's strong belief that quality products must be friendly to both the environment and the user. Located in the naturally beautiful Shinshu region of Japan, Epson has been committed to environmental preservation right from the's inception. The company's in-house standards, which are strictly conformed to, are even more exacting than governmental regulations. In fact, Epson follows environmentally sound practices from production right through to recycling and was one of the first in the industry to totally abolish CFCs and chlorine-based solvents, make recycling a priority when selecting materials, recycle waste during the production stage, and begin efforts towards acquiring ISO 14001 certification – the international standard for environmental management.

Epson shares its conservation technology with the world

Epson actively assists its associates in promoting CFC-free production. For example, the Shimauchi Plant shares its cleaning centre with other firms in the same region. Openly releasing its advanced environmental technology to the public. Epson's environmental protection efforts have been well received internationally, receiving the Waste Reduction Award from the California Committee on Integrated Wastes Management, and the Ozone Layer Protection Agency. Staying in harmony with nature is another important philosophy behind Epson's activities.
