Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic product but could use a wired network port and stable Windows software Having already a V600 Photo scanner, I needed something with an automatic document feeder for multiple pages at a reasonable price but with network capabilities as well. The WorkForce DS-570W fits the bill nicely, as the basic model with excellent optical resolution and network support without having to spend an extra few hundred dollars to have an additional networking module. However, I simply cannot understand why WiFi is built into the device but not a simple network port. Surely both are just as economically viable? Also, it's fortunate that I have more than one computer, as my Windows 7 (64 bit) desktop seemed to crash every time I ran the installer and got to the WiFi connectivity configuration stage. It allowed me to install for USB operation but not for WiFi. To work around this issue so I could configure it for my office network, I was able to do so with my Mac laptop. So to Epson, you have a great product. However, like some of your competitors, you need to work on your software and you need to add a little more value to your products with just a simple wired network connection that truly costs a few dollars to implement. Networking becomes very important when operating these devices in shared environments or with single users who use multiple computers. WiFi has been the solution here but I prefer only portable devices to use WiFi and all desktop devices use cable. Cable is, and always will be, king. All that being said, I can still wholeheartedly recommend this product once one gets past the hurdles.
