Epson sells 15 million EcoTank™ printers and wins BLI Award as EcoTank™ range adopts new cost conscious retail strategy in NZ

Ultimate printing convenience with up to two years worth of ink included

AUCKLAND, 2 August 2016 – Buyers Laboratory (BLI), the world's leading independent evaluator of document imaging hardware and software, has awarded its 2016 BLI Winter Pick for innovative ink products catering to both small office and home office (SoHo) to the Epson EcoTank™ ET-4550 printer. The ET-4550 is Epson's flagship EcoTank™ printer and sits alongside the L565 in the SoHo printer space. Also in the EcoTank™ range are the L365 and L455 home printers.

As a result of the continued success of EcoTank™ printers – more than 15,000,000 have now been sold worldwide - in New Zealand Epson has adopted a new, even more cost conscious retail strategy. This new strategy now sees all four printers at extremely competitive prices starting with the EcoTank™ L365 at an RRP of NZ$349, then the L455 at RRP NZ$429, L565 at RRP NZ$499 and finally the EcoTank™ ET-4550 at an RRP of NZ$749. All EcoTank™ printers come with at least two years worth of ink included¹.

EcoTank WorkForce ET-4550

The top model EcoTank™ printer in the range, the WorkForce ET-4550, really raises the bar for home office users as, in addition to having all the key features of its siblings the L365, L455 and L565, it is powered by Epson's unique and award-winning PrecisionCore™ inkjet technology. Not only does the ET-4550 come with up to two years worth of included ink¹ but in this model that constitutes up to 11,000 pages in black² and 8,500 pages in colour². As well as Epson Connect™ and Wi-Fi Direct^®3 there is auto two-sided printing, a 30-page auto document feeder, a 2.2" Mono LCD screen, 150-sheet paper capacity and low-cost, easily refillable ink tanks.

EcoTank™ printers have revolutionised household and small office printing by making them incredibly convenient as a result of the two years worth of included ink¹, the elimination of regular trips or orders to buy ink and the knowledge that, paper aside, most costs associated with printing are already paid for.

The Epson EcoTank™ L365, L455 and L565 are wireless all-in-one printers with integrated ink systems, ideal for busy homes and SoHo looking to cut their printing costs. Thanks to the integrated high-capacity ink tanks, ink is supplied continuously to the printer, so there are no cartridges to replace making printing for the whole family a hassle free experience.

EcoTank's integrated high capacity ink tank system boasts enough ink in the box to print up to a massive 4,000 pages in black and 6,500 pages in colour² (which for most households is around two years’ worth of ink¹)

The use of ink bottles means there are no cartridges to change, ever. If required one simply tops up the tanks and continues printing without worry. Additional high-volume ink bottles can be purchased that have a drip free-free nozzle and resealable cap for easy storage. The replacement bottles also hold enough ink to print 4,000² pages in black and 6,500² pages in colour.

The EcoTank™ L365 printers have Wi-Fi with auto-setup making it simple to connect all computers and laptops to the printer. In addition users can print from Android™⁴ and iOS phones and tablets using Epson’s free iPrint app³. iPrint is free to download from the Apple App store or Android™⁴ Play store and allows users to easily print web pages, Microsoft Office documents, photos and PDF's.

The Epson EcoTank™ L455 is the next step up from the L365 and offers simple wireless connectivity allowing users to share the EcoTank™ L455 with multiple computers and mobile devices (up to four devices at once) and enjoy the freedom to print from anywhere. Setup couldn't be simpler with a plug and play function. Users can choose from using an existing network with 802.11n or Wi-Fi Direct⁵ which means no wireless network is required, making peer-to-peer printing easy. Navigating the EcoTank™ L455 is simple with the 1.44" colour LCD plus convenient control panel for simple setup and operation. The L455 also uses Apple^® AirPrint™ which makes it simple to print photos, emails, web pages and documents straight from any iPad^® or iPhone^®. There's no software to download, no drivers to install and no cables to connect. Apple^® iOS^® devices will automatically connect to the printer. The L455 also allows printing on the go from a smartphone or tablet using Google Cloud Print™ via Gmail™ or Google Drive™ account. Users can also print from a Chromebook and Google Chrome™ without installing drivers or connecting cables meaning that it's now even easier to share Google content from anywhere.

EcoTank™ L455

The Epson EcoTank™ L565 is a true multifunction printer that enables any home office or small office to do more in one small package. It features a 100-sheet paper capacity and gives the ability to scan, copy and fax multiple original documents with its convenient 30-page automatic document feeder. The L565 enjoys the same simple wireless connectivity as the L465 but boasts a larger 2.2" Mono LCD as part of its control panel. The L565 also allows users to easily print from tablets or smartphones using Epson Connect™³ and supports Android™⁴, Apple^® iPad and iPhone, Chromebook™, Kindle Fire™, Mac^® and Windows^® devices.
