Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has facility to scan up to 10x8 transparencies I have had many scanners over the last 20-30 years and the Epson 800 does what scanners at twice the price do. The price is very reasonable considering its speed and the quality and sharpness is outstanding. My problem now is rescanning old material that had previously been scanned on my existing scanner. The Epson V800 compares more than favourably with a scanner I bought many years ago, which cost me about five times the price and could only scan up to 5x4 transparencies and wasn't able to scan reflective material. I thoroughly recommend the Epson Perfection V800 for all your scanning needs.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing so far Purchase V800 scanner 8 days ago, It initially worked well. Installed ok, scanned photos at various resolutions. Scanned color negs once. Since then - nothing. It does not work any more. Have reinstalled software, updated drivers. completely uninstalled and reinstalled. Still nothing. After spending a day trying to get it to work again with no success I am very, very, very unhappy. My current experience is very underwhelming. I am hoping the support team may be able to help.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great tool for the digital darkroom and archives. This scanner is more versatile than my old Nikon V. It also has equal or better specs. Putting all these scanning media options together in a flatbed is real bang for buck! One criticism.. and it isn't aimed specifically at Epson.. The majority of my most valuable work is B&W negative based. And it is still expensive to get a user friendly (or auto) digital dust and scratch removal tool. SilverFast have a couple on offer. But their easiest to use and most effective version is only available with their top of the line package of scanner related software.. no doubt to maximise a return for developing it. But this tech. should really be made available in any reputable scanning software for traditional B&W media.. as ICE is these days for traditional colour media.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product has more features than I expected. I needed the product solely for scanning and converting positive slides into an electronic format on my computer. This is essential to preserve the pictures which were in old cardboard mounts and twisting. I also needed to get the photos into a format suitable for power point presentation. I note that, whilst converting the positive slides I am able to enhance the photos in many ways which is most helpful.
