Epson New Zealand Warranty
Introduction
This Warranty is in addition to other rights or remedies that You may have under the Act in relation to your Product.
Definitions
In this Warranty:
- "Act" means the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 as amended.
- "Consumable" include (without limitation) ink cartridges/bags/pouches, cleaning
cartridges/bags/pouches, maintenance liquid, pre-treatment liquid, maintenance tanks, cleaning pads, cleaning
sticks, cleaning fluid, waste/recycling bottles, drain tubes, clamps, tweezers,
gloves, cups, caps, pump cap assemblies, flushing pads, fabric wiper units, fabric rollers and pre-treatment applicators.
- "Epson New Zealand" means Epson Australia Pty Ltd trading as Epson New Zealand.
- "Genuine" means manufactured by or for a member of the Seiko-Epson group
of companies.
- "Explanatory Notes" means the notes attached to and to be read in conjunction with this warranty.
- “Factory Second” means a Product expressly sold by Epson New Zealand
as a second.
- "Part" means any spare part or other component that forms a part of the Product and which may be replaced from time to time.
- "Onsite" means at your business premises within a 40 kilometre radius from the Central Post Office of the following New Zealand locations: Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.
- "Product" means a Genuine Large Format Printer supplied new by Epson New Zealand,
being one of the following models:-
- Epson SureColor SC-F1060
- Epson SureColor SC-F2000
- Epson SureColor SC-F2160
- Epson SureColor SC-F2260
- Epson SureColor SC-F3000
- "Proof of Purchase" means a legible copy of your purchase receipt or invoice for the Product.
- "Marketing Initiative" includes any competition or promotion initiated by
Epson New Zealand.
- "Purchase Date" means the date of a Product’s first purchase from
Epson New Zealand or a Stockist.
- "Proof of Purchase" means a legible copy of your purchase receipt or invoice
for the Product.
- "Specifications" means the performance characteristics of a Product set
out from time to time on Epson New Zealand’s website.
- "Stockist" means an authorized Epson dealer.
- "Service Agent" means a person or a company authorized by Epson New Zealand
to repair a Product.
- "You" means the End User and “your” has a corresponding meaning.
- "Component" means any spare Part or other user replaceable item that forms a part of the Product and which may be replaced from time to time.
- "User Manual" means a document created by Seiko Epson that provides detailed
installation, operation and maintenance instructions.
- "Life Expectancy" refers to the volume of output and age of a machine. The volume and age must be considered together with the final figure dependent on whichever occurs first. The volume based Life Expectancy of a Product is based on the number of Carriage Returns (CR). Some models have additional Part limitations;
- F1060: 5 years or 1.9 million CR passes (approx 15,000 shirts)
- F2000: 3 years or 2.5 million CR passes (approx 20,000 shirts)
- F2160 & F2260: 5 years or 3.0 million CR passes (approx 24,000 shirts)
- F3000: 5 years or 11.5 million CR passes (approx 360,000 shirts)
White Print Head Part: 60,000 shirts
Colour Print Head Part: 120,000 shirts
Warranty Terms
Subject to these conditions, Epson New Zealand offers an Onsite Warranty on your Product.
Epson New Zealand warrants that your Product will be free from any defect in materials or workmanship for one (1) year (or, in case of a Factory Second, for six (6) months) after your Purchase Date.
At its discretion, Epson New Zealand will either repair or replace your Product, if it is found on inspection by Epson or a Service Agent to have any such defect within the relevant Warranty period.
A Stockist who sells a Product to You has no
authority from Epson New Zealand to give You any additional Warranty
or guarantee in relation to your Product or to make any statement
(other than what is contained in the Specifications) about:
- a Product's performance or fitness for any specific purpose;
or
- the currency or application of any Marketing Initiative.
Under this Warranty, Epson New Zealand will not be liable for any
claimed consequential loss or any indirect or special damage arising from your
use of the Product or any breach of this warranty. In particular (but without limitation) Epson New Zealand excludes any liability for actual or expected loss of
revenue or profits, business interruption, loss or corruption of business information
or data claimed to arise from your use of the Product.
Epson New Zealand warrants that your Product will be free from defects in materials or workmanship for one (1) year from the first installation date for SureColor SC-F1060, SC-F2000, SC-F2160 and SC-F2260 or thirty (30) days for SC-F3000 extendable up to a maximum of five years. This warranty includes all Genuine Parts (excluding Consumables, Consumable Parts and Parts
that have reached their rated life) and labour. Consumable Parts must be purchased by You at Epson's then-current prices.
At its discretion, Epson New Zealand will either repair or replace a Product (with an equivalent model
which may be new or re furbished) if it is found, on inspection by Epson or a Service Agent, to
have any defect as outlined above. In the event that Epson chooses to replace a Product under this
Warranty, only the unexpired balance of the Warranty for the replaced Product will
apply to the replacement Product.
This warranty is limited to those software packages that carry the Epson logo, provided those packages
are not modified (other than by an authorised Epson New Zealand representative). You are responsible for backing-up,
or preserving the integrity of software generated data in the course of using the Epson software packages and
during technical support. Epson New Zealand will not be liable for any loss of data arising from repairs or
advice given on the use of the Epson provided software or hardware Products.
All warranty claims must be approved by Epson New Zealand before any warranty service work is performed.
No such warranty service work once approved will be performed except by an authorised Service Agent.
Repair work under this Warranty (other than Preventative
Maintenance) will be carried out free of charge.
Warranty Claim Procedure
If You wish to make a claim under this Warranty, You must do the following:
- First call Epson Support in New Zealand on 0800 237 766 to report any fault
- When calling to report a fault, please make sure that You have the following information; printer model number, serial number, date of purchase and a detailed description of the fault.
- Provide Proof of Purchase, to show that this Warranty applies to your Product at the date of your claim.
- If your Product is located within an a 40 kilometre radius from the Central Post Office of the following New Zealand locations: Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin You will be entitled to receive Onsite Warranty Service.
- If your Product is located outside this radius, You must, either bear the cost and risk of having your Product delivered to and returned from a Service Agent for Warranty service, or pay the Service Agent’s reasonable travel and accommodation costs to provide You with Onsite Warranty service
- If a Service Agent provides Onsite Warranty service but finds that any fault is not directly related to a breach of this Warranty, You must pay its current service fee and its reasonable travel and accommodation costs on a return basis (if applicable) to provide You with Onsite Warranty service.
Warranty Application
This Warranty applies only:
- You purchase Product from Epson New Zealand or an authorised Stockist;
- You use the Product for your own business purposes;
- You operate the Product at its original Location at the time of installation, in a suitable environment, in a suitable environment, in compliance with the Product's environmental requirements as specified by Epson New Zealand;
- You use only Genuine Epson Consumable Parts when operating the Product;
- You follow the instructions outlined in your user guide in terms of initial Product set-up, consumable loading, maintenance and replacement;
- You follow the procedure outlined in your user guide for daily power down and power down prior to an extended period of inactivity;
- You follow correct procedures in terms of media loading, platen height setting, temperature setting and output management/ take-up adjustment;
- You perform regular maintenance as prescribed in the User Manual;
- You make the Product available for service when scheduled or requested by Epson or its Agent. And provide full access to Product, with adequate working space, storage space, and facilities, including heat, light, ventilation, electric current and power outlets.
If a Service Agent attends to provide On-site warranty service
but finds that the reported fault is not directly related to a failure
of the Product that is covered by this Warranty (including,
without limitation, your failure to perform regular user level maintenance
as prescribed in the User Manual), You must pay its current service
fee and its reasonable return travel and accommodation costs (if
applicable) to provide You with On-site service.
Warranty Exclusions
This Warranty will not apply if any of the following events occurs
during the Warranty period:
- A Product's serial number or any rating label is removed or changed in anyway;
- A Product is serviced, repaired or modified other than by Epson or its authorised Service Agent;
- You have installed or used a Product contrary to the technical or operating guidelines recommended in its
User guide or Manual;
- A component Part of your Product has reached or exceeded its Life Expectancy;
- A fault occurs in any Parts, materials or Products not supplied by Epson;
- Any fault or damage caused by using non Genuine ink/fluid cartridges for the Product, or any ink
delivery system other than the Genuine ink delivery system built into the Product;
- Any fault or damage due to the quality of media used, including (but without limitation);
- damage to the Product's print head caused by media imperfections such as variations in thickness;
- improper storage of media before use in the Product; or
- improper installation or setting of media in the Product.
- Any fault or damage caused by third-party software, applications, Parts, components or peripheral devices
not provided by or approved for use by Epson New Zealand with the Product;
- Any fault or damage due to using filters, solvents, or other supplies not recommended in the Specifications;
- Any fault or damage caused by neglecting or improperly performing user level maintenance as prescribed
in the User Manual;
- Any fault or damage caused by misuse, abuse, improper installation, neglect, fire, flood, lightning,
electrical surges or incorrect currents, disasters or acts of God;
- Any colour change or fading of printed output;
- Any fault or damage caused by the use of non-recommended materials, tools, liquids or fluids when
performing user maintenance;
- Any fault or damage from your failure to procure, install, or have maintenance performed on
Product or items not covered by this Warranty and on all non-Epson communications media and peripherals
including without limitation transmission lines, networks, telephone, and telegraph equipment for the
remote transmission of data;
- Any fault or damage arising from operator error;
- Any operator supplies or accessories, paint, or refinishing of the Equipment;
- Any electrical or mechanical work not related to Product maintenance, or any, installation, removal of
accessories, attachments, or other devices not supplied by Epson New Zealand;
- Any alteration to the configuration of the Product not authorised by Epson New Zealand or a Stockist.
- A Product's malfunction or failure to perform to Specifications results from:
- deliberate or accidental damage including damage in transit, by insects/pests, through liquid
spillage, or through any other improper use or mishandling by the End User; or
- modification; or
- any form of computer virus; or
- any Parts require repair or replacement as a result of normal wear and tear, corrosion or stain.
Spare Parts & Consumable Warranty
For Epson New Zealand, this Warranty applies in addition to the warranties implied by the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act.
Spare Parts under $500- (excluding GST):
- Whether provided during a Warranty repair, under Epson CoverPlus, or bought outside of warranty, these parts have a 90-day warranty or the remainder of the Product's Warranty or Epson CoverPlus, whichever is longer.
Spare Parts over $500- (excluding GST):
- If provided free during an Warranty repair or under Epson CoverPlus, these parts carry a 90-day warranty or the remainder of the Product's Warranty or Epson CoverPlus, whichever is longer.
- If purchased outside of Warranty or Epson CoverPlus, these parts have a 12-month warranty.
The Spare Parts warranty will apply provided the following conditions are met:
- They are purchased and installed by an Epson New Zealand authorised Service Agent
- The product the spare parts are fitted to meets the standard Warranty terms and conditions available from Epson’s website
- They are purchased and installed by an Epson authorised Service Agent
- You use only Genuine Epson Consumables purchased from an Epson authorised reseller (for items that use Consumables)
- At the time of installation of the purchased spare parts your Product was not more than five years old from the date of purchase, otherwise the period of warranty will be 90 days.
Consumables
Consumables by their nature have a finite life. The Epson warranty against defects in workmanship or materials is for the lesser of a period of 90 days or the rated life of the Consumable as described in the user’s guide or service manual.
In the case of Lamps for projectors, some Lamps carry a specific Warranty for a specific period and this is detailed under our standard product warranty terms and conditions where applicable.
Non-Genuine Items
Epson New Zealand advises that if You use non-genuine Consumables, software, Parts, Consumable Parts or
accessories, You may cause damage to your Product that may invalidate this Warranty and You may incur
the current cost of Parts, travel and labour for a Service Agent to repair or attempt to repair such damage.

Epson New Zealand offers an eight (8) working hour response time on normal business days for Warranty repair work.
On-Site Service Coverage
Epson New Zealand or its nominated service agent will perform Onsite Warranty repair work within a 40–kilometre radius from the Central Post Office of the following locations: Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.
