Epson New Zealand Warranty

 

Introduction
This Warranty is in addition to other rights or remedies that You may have under the Act in relation to your Product.

 

Definitions
In this Warranty:

  1. "Act" means the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 as amended.
  2. "Consumable" include (without limitation) ink cartridges, paper, maintenance tanks.
  3. "Epson New Zealand" means Epson Australia Pty Ltd, trading as Epson New Zealand.
  4. "Genuine" means manufactured by or for a member of the Seiko-Epson group of companies.
  5. "Onsite" means at your business premises within a 40 kilometre radius from the Central Post Office of the following New Zealand locations: Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.
  6. "Product" means a Genuine WorkForce Pro RIPS Printer supplied new by Epson New Zealand, being one of the following models:-

    • Epson WorkForce Pro RIPS WF-R5190*
    • Epson WorkForce Pro RIPS WF-R5690*
    • Epson WorkForce WF-C869R*
    • Epson WorkForce WF-C869RTC*
    • Epson WorkForce WF-C878R*
    • Epson WorkForce WF-C878RTC*
    • Epson WorkForce WF-C879R*
    • Epson WorkForce WF-C879RTC*
    • Epson WorkForce Pro RIPS WF-R8590
    • Epson WorkForce Pro RIPS WF-R8590TC

  7. "Marketing Initiative" includes any competition or promotion initiated by Epson New Zealand.
  8. "Purchase Date" means the date of a Product’s first purchase from Epson New Zealand or a Stockist.
  9. "Proof of Purchase" means a legible copy of your purchase receipt or invoice for the Product.
  10. "Specifications" means the performance characteristics of a Product set out from time to time on Epson New Zealand’s website.
  11. "Stockist" means an authorized Epson reseller or dealer.
  12. "Service Agent" means a person or a company authorized by Epson New Zealand to repair a Product.
  13. "You" means the End User and “your” has a corresponding meaning.
  14. “Component” means any spare Part or other user replaceable item that forms a part of the Product and which may be replaced from time to time.

Warranty Terms
Epson New Zealand offers an Onsite Warranty on your Product subject to the following conditions.

 

Epson New Zealand warrants that your Product will be free from any defect in materials or workmanship for one (1) year after your Purchase Date.

This onsite warranty will only apply to a Product located at the premises of an End User that's within a radius of 40 kilometres from the General Post Office in the following New Zealand cities:



  • Auckland
  • Wellington
  • Christchurch
  • Dunedin

Reasonable travel and accommodation charges for the Authorised Service Agent will apply if warranty service is required for a Product located outside the radius limitations listed above.

At its discretion, Epson New Zealand will either repair or replace your Product, if it is found on inspection by Epson or a Service Agent to have any such defect within the relevant Warranty period.

 

A Stockist who sells a Product to You has no authority from Epson New Zealand to give You any additional Warranty or guarantee in relation to your Product or to make any statement (other than what is contained in the Specifications) about:

 

  1. a Product's performance or fitness for any specific purpose; or
  2. the currency or application of any Marketing Initiative.

Epson New Zealand will not be liable for any consequential loss or damage claimed to arise from your use of the Product. In particular (but without limitation) Epson New Zealand will not be liable for actual or expected revenue loss or for any corruption or loss of data claimed to arise from your use of the Product.

 

Warranty Claim Procedure
If You wish to make a claim under this Warranty, You must do the following:

  1. First call the Stockist from which You purchased your Product to identify and rectify (if possible) any fault
  2. If the fault cannot be identified and rectified as above, You should call Epson New Zealand on 0800 237 766 for the location of your nearest Service Agent and then provide that Service Agent with satisfactory proof of your Purchase Date, to show that this Warranty applies to your Product at the date of your claim
  3. If your Product is located within an 40 kilometre radius of a Service Agent You will be entitled to receive Onsite Warranty service.
  4. If your Product is located outside this radius, You must, either bear the cost and risk of having your Product delivered to and returned from a Service Agent for Warranty service, or pay the Service Agent’s reasonable travel and accommodation costs to provide You with Onsite Warranty service
  5. If a Service Agent provides Onsite Warranty service but finds that any fault is not directly related to a breach of this Warranty, You must pay its current service fee and its reasonable travel and accommodation costs on a return basis (if applicable) to provide You with Onsite Warranty service.


Warranty Application
This Warranty applies only:

  1. To a Product sold to You by Epson New Zealand or by a Stockist; and
  2. You have not bought the Product for resale.


Warranty Exclusions
This Warranty will not apply if any of the following occurs during the applicable Warranty period stated above:

  1. A Product’s serial number or any rating label is removed or changed in any way;
  2. A Product is serviced or repaired or modified by anyone other than by a Service Agent;
  3. You use your Product in excess of the Specifications or contrary to the technical or operating environment guidelines recommended in the Epson New Zealand user guide or manual;
  4. A component Part of your Product, (including but without limitation its waste pads), reaches the end of its service life; or
  5. A Product’s malfunction or failure to perform according to Epson New Zealand's Specifications results from:
     
  1. deliberate or accidental damage;
  2. excessive use, neglect or modification by or on behalf of an End User;
  3. the use of incorrect voltage or a power surge;
  4. any form of computer virus;
  5. the use of non-Genuine consumables, software, replacement Parts, accessories and/or interfacing; or
  6. any Parts require repair or replacement as a result of normal wear and tear, corrosion or stain.


Spare Parts & Consumable Warranty

For Epson New Zealand, this Warranty applies in addition to the warranties implied by the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act.

 

Spare Parts under $500- (excluding GST):

  • Whether provided during a Warranty repair, under Epson CoverPlus, or bought outside of warranty, these parts have a 90-day warranty or the remainder of the Product's Warranty or Epson CoverPlus, whichever is longer.

Spare Parts over $500- (excluding GST):

  • If provided free during an Warranty repair or under Epson CoverPlus, these parts carry a 90-day warranty or the remainder of the Product's Warranty or Epson CoverPlus, whichever is longer.
  • If purchased outside of Warranty or Epson CoverPlus, these parts have a 12-month warranty.

 

The Spare Parts warranty will apply provided the following conditions are met:

  1. They are purchased and installed by an Epson New Zealand authorised Service Agent
  2. The product the spare parts are fitted to meets the standard Warranty terms and conditions available from Epson’s website
  3. They are purchased and installed by an Epson authorised Service Agent
  4. You use only Genuine Epson Consumables purchased from an Epson authorised reseller (for items that use Consumables)
  5. At the time of installation of the purchased spare parts your Product was not more than five years old from the date of purchase, otherwise the period of warranty will be 90 days.


Consumables
Consumables by their nature have a finite life. The Epson warranty against defects in workmanship or materials is for the lesser of a period of 90 days or the rated life of the Consumable as described in the user’s guide or service manual.

 

In the case of Lamps for projectors, some Lamps carry a specific Warranty for a specific period and this is detailed under our standard product warranty terms and conditions where applicable.


Non-Genuine Items
If You use non-Genuine Consumables, software, replacement Parts or accessories in or with your Product during the relevant Warranty period, You may damage the Product and may consequently invalidate this Warranty and You may incur the cost of return travel, labour and Parts for a Service Agent to repair or attempt to repair such damage.

Epson New Zealand offers a Next Business Day response time on normal business days for Warranty repair work on all WorkForce Pro RIPS.

 

*Epson New Zealand will perform Onsite Warranty at your business premises within a 40 kilometre radius from the Central Post Office of the following New Zealand locations:

 

  • Auckland
  • Wellington
  • Christchurch
  • Dunedin

 

For locations not listed, You can (at your cost) return the device to your closest Authorised Service Agent for repair, or arrange for the Service Agent to visit your office (travel and accommodation costs apply) for on-site repair.
