Rated 5 out of 5 by from A definite improvement I have owned the V700 photo for many years and thought it time to upgrade. The improved speed of the V800 (no warm up) is a real benefit as is the easy height adjustment of the transparency holders making it easier to achieve correct focus. the quality of the scans is excellent even a bit better than the v700 which I was extremely happy with. Overall I think it is worth the cost of upgrading as the speed increase is very important to me and this alone makes it worth the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warning to people wanting to scan 120 film The Epson V800 has been great so far, however Epson felt the need to redesign the film holders. The 35mm film holder works fine, even though there are now only places for three rows of 35mm instead of four in one scan. The 120 film holders are the problem however. The new holders are too small for the actual film size resulting in bent negatives and film that doesn't sit flat in the film holder or gets kinked, resulting in poor scans. I have contacted Epson about this problem, and it seems to be a problem being registered all over the internet, which Epson is not responding to. For a product this expensive, Epson should at least look into the problem and offer to replace the film holders with ones from the V700. Be warned if you are wanting to scan 120/220 film.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely excellent unit This scanner replaced our venerable 4990 scanner which we have used for over 6 years. After a week, it does everything the 4990 did, but it does it better and with more control. Highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic results from neg, tranny and print The Epson V800 is a wonderful scanner, I have no hesitation in recommending it. My primary use is the scanning and archiving of negs and trannys, I've also scanned a range of glass plates and prints with wonderful results.
